The ManiMe At Home Nail System

Find out if this system is as easy as they make it out to be and if it’s really a mani solution for me.

The ManiMe system has not only manicures but pedicures as well! These are stick-on gel nail sheets that can be applied in minutes and removed in seconds. The best part… you send them a 3D scan of your nail beds and they custom create your custom-sized nails for you! The technology is pretty awesome! Then they ship you your custom mani-pedi within 4 days! Peel from the top, press down from bottom to top, and file excess! You can add a base and/or top as well.

The ManiMe system is the first-ever custom fit stick-on gels developed with proprietary 3D technology. The products are toxin and cruelty-free and claim to be able to be applied in 5 minutes or less. The developers wanted to create a product for nails that could be switched up as easily as changing your shoes and allow their customers an at-home manicure solution so they wouldn’t have to waste hours of their valuable time sitting in chemical-filled salons. Sounds great, right?

I was really excited to try the ManiMe gel nails. It seems like a great concept, no lights are needed, the nails would come pre-sized to fit my nails perfectly, and it would take 5 minutes! What could go wrong…

I purchased all the products to make sure that I had the best possible experience and outcome. I started with the Magic Cuticle Pen, which I love. I have dry skin and so I always feel like I have tons of cuticles to deal with and I don’t like having to cut them myself at home. This is a great solution that helps keep my cuticles at bay while also hydrating the skin.

I then applied the base coat, which was simple enough. Even if you aren’t great at painting your nails (I am terrible at this) you probably won’t mess it up!

Then it all started to fall apart. I loved that when I placed the gel sheet on my natural nail it fit perfectly due to the custom nature of this product, but removing the excess that hung over the end of my nail was a total disaster. It’s incredibly sticky and difficult to cut the excess, and on two of my nails I ended up cutting my natural nails in the process.

You then have to file and buff the end to get gel smooth on the tips on your nails. I tried this manicure system about 2 weeks after getting a professional manicure. My nails were perfectly shaped and had grown to a nice length. When I had to file the edges of the gel sheet it ruined the shape and length of my nails. It was a nightmare disaster. It made my nails uneven and trying to make them look better and be as uniform as possible resulted in my nails shortening and just not looking as nice as I would have liked.

Once I got through that part of the process I applied the optional topcoat. It explained on the website the base and top coat were not necessary but would prolong the wear of the manicure. I have to wonder how long these would have lasted without the base and topcoat because it didn’t even make it 24 hours.

I painstakingly pressed the gel nail onto my natural nail. This apparently didn’t work very well because the nail polish was lifting within 24 hours. I ended up having to remove the nails because they were getting caught on everything I touched and it was making me crazy!

The good news is that they remove easily without damage to your nails. They are pretty sticky and only require you to pull them from the already lifted edge to remove.

I am so disappointed that this product ended up being such a failure. I was so excited to give the ManiMe a try, and I thought the scanning technology to get the ideal fit for my nails was so cool. It just stinks that these are so hard to apply and then they don't work great and lift so easily.

I bought several different designs and even the pedicure gels to try. I’ll give the toe option a chance and if it’s worth trying I’ll report back, but for now, I have to say save your money and your time. It would be a waste of money to invest in this particular system, and so the quest for the perfect nail solution continues…

Peace, Love, and better at home manicure options,

XX,

Jenna
